Philips Introduces CliniScape Mobile Clinical Assistant

Philips has officially launched its new tablet PC for clinicians, called CliniScape. Previously only known as Mobile Clinical Assistant (MCA), the CliniScape (MCA104 model) was just unveiled at the World of Health IT annual congress in Vienna, Austria. The system is designed to simplify clinical work, improve patient safety, and streamline the documentation process. Mobile Assistant Cliniscape from Philips is the latest device for medical facilities. The model is designed by Intel Digital Health Group.

Tablet PC Cliniscape is equipped with 10.4-inch touch screen, Windows Vista Business, Core Solo processor, 1 GB RAM, a hard drive of 60 GB, 802.11n, RFID and Bluetooth, barcode reader, 2-Mp camera, a battery that provides 3.5 hours of autonomous work, and 1 USB port.

The device has a special firm corpus. Due to connection to the dock “grab-and-go” Cliniscape can be used as a desktop device with three additional USB ports and Ethernet connector.

The Mobile Clinical Assistant category was defined by Intel's Digital Health Group, with direct input from nurses and physicians worldwide. CliniScape can be used to access any hospital information system and also integrates with the latest releases of Philips' medical technology platforms, IntelliVue Clinical Information Portfolio (ICIP) and iSite PACS, and with the integrated digital camera, nurses can take and insert patient pictures directly into the ICIP electronic medical record.

Cliniscape will enter the market in spring, 2008.
